Since 2022, Russia-Ukraine geopolitical conflicts have intensified, and global energy prices have risen sharply, with international natural gas prices hitting historic highs. About 3D Printing Stainless Steel SS316L Powder:
316 stainless steel has more carbon in it than 316L. This is easy to remember, as the L stands for "low." But even though it has less carbon, 316L is very similar to 316 in almost every way. How is 3D Printing Stainless Steel SS316L Powder produced?
Type 316 steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel containing 2% to 3% molybdenum. The molybdenum content improves corrosion resistance, resistance to pitting in chloride ion solutions, and high-temperature strength.
Stainless steel 3D printing is produced by melting or laser sintering. There are two possible technologies for this material: DMLS and SLM. At Sculpteo, we use DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) technology, which is a laser sintering technology on EOS M280 machines for printing stainless steel.
