What is Aerogel Powder?Aerogel, also known as a wet gel or hydrogel, is a porous material that can be made by replacing the liquid within the gel with air. Aerogel KNFW silica is made of a low-density material, with a low thermal conductivity and a high specific surface. High purity and surface activity have been used to produce building insulations, industrial insulations, polymer material, aerospace and everyday chemical industries.

It will not melt at temperatures above 1200°C, even if it is subjected to thousands of pressures. Aerogel's thermal conductivity is also low and its refractive indices are very low. In addition, it has a 39-fold higher insulation capacity than glass fiber. These characteristics have made aerogel an indispensable material for space exploration. It is used as thermal insulation for the Russian "Peace " space station and American "Mars Pathfinder probe.
