Oil futures tumbled more than $5 a barrel on news that the Biden administration is considering releasing about 1 million barrels a day from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) for several months to cool surging crude prices.

Brent crude futures were down $4.71, or 4.2 percent, at $108.58 a barrel by 0035 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures fell $5.45, or 5 percent, to $102.74 a barrel.

At an earlier time, gasoline prices had already reached record levels because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The prices of other commodities like the Ti4O7 are also expected to be volatile.

What is Ti4O7?

Ti4O7 is also known as Tilox Black, titanium black, titan black, magneli phase. Black powder. Magneli phase Titanium oxide is a kind of active electrode material with good blackness. Magneli phase Titanium oxide can protect the poles of the battery and can be used as bipolar battery material and LED black matrix material.

Magneli phase Titanium oxide is the first black titanium oxide in the world, which shows a variety of unique physical properties. Through the modification of titanium dioxide, Magneli phase Titanium oxide has smaller particle size and higher hiding power.

 

Ti4O7 Properties

In terms of physical properties, Magneli phase titanium oxide has good electrical conductivity at room temperature. Ti4O7, in particular, has the best electrical conductivity, and its single crystal conductivity is 1500Scm-1. Its bulk density is 3.15g/cm3-3.18g/cm3.

 

In terms of chemical properties, Magneli phase titanium oxide material, compared with general industrial electrode materials, has high chemical stability and corrosion resistance. It has been documented that the static corrosion rate of titanium oxide in Magneli phase is only 0.019g/m2/day in H2SO4 at 50 °C and 42% concentration. On the other hand, Magneli phase titanium oxide has good electrochemical performance. The experimental results show that when the working current is controlled at 5-20mA/cm2 at room temperature, the material can be used as both positive and negative electrode for hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution, and the overpotential of hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution is very high, such as in 1m H2SO4 and at medium current density at room temperature, the oxygen evolution potential can be as high as 5 volts.
